Although progress has been made in the fight against gender stereotypes, women still make up only 25% of the STEM workforce. Research revealed that many girls lose interest or are dissuaded from STEM as early as middle school, ultimately leading to an underrepresentation of women in STEM careers.
We partnered with Ad Council, IF/THEN and the hosts of NBC’s TODAY to bring our message to a new level with a flash-back style, PSA campaign that provides a twist to the age-old question, “what does everyone want to be when they grow up?" The campaign aims to dismantle the intimidating perceived barrier of STEM fields by showing how fun and accessible STEM can be and encouraging girls to dive in, no matter where they are in their STEM journey.
The PSA, which premiered during the pre-game for Super Bowl LVI, promotes the potential for girls to pursue STEM careers and showcases the progress that has been made, while fostering a call to action to learn more via SheCanSTEM.com.
