Marc Brownstein
President & CEO
Marc has had a love affair with advertising since his first client meeting at the age of 3. After graduating from Pennsylvania State University, he spent eight years as a copywriter in New York – mostly at Ogilvy & Mather - creating award-winning work for AT&T, American Express, Hershey Foods, Time Warner and Campbell Soup Company. Marc returned to Philadelphia to join Brownstein Group as Executive Creative Director. A few years later, he was appointed President & CEO and has since furthered the family business into a modern, brand-centric shop that prides itself on early innovation and a robust company culture. Under his leadership, the Agency has more than tripled in size, adding several blue-chip clients to its roster, including IKEA, Lincoln Financial Corp, Saint-Gobain, Bimbo Brands, Comcast, AmeriGas, Microsoft, La Colombe and UnitedHealthcare. Outside of the Agency, Marc serves as special marketing adviser to Penn State University. He is also a director of Brockmans, a UK-based spirits company; an active member of the board of directors of the 4A’s; the Young Presidents' Organization (YPO); Ed Snider Youth Hockey Foundation; Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce; Chairs the Arts & Business Council; Mural Arts Program of Philadelphia; Philadelphia Film Festival; and Penn State University's College of Communications. Marc speaks regularly before industry and professional groups and is a blogger for Advertising Age. -
Erin Allsman
EVP, Managing Director
Erin oversees the brand strategy, creative, digital, public relations, social media, client services and agency communications departments and leads the agency's long-term growth, integration, and specialization strategies. Prior to becoming Managing Director, Erin led the PR department for 10 years, breaking records and evolving their offerings. Erin is an active member of the PR community, having served on PRSA Philadelphia’s Board of Directors as the Host Committee Chairperson for the 2013 PRSA International Conference, and on several nonprofit communications committees. She has been featured as a contributor in industry publications such as PRWeek and PR News and was a recipient of the President’s Award for outstanding volunteerism by PRSA Philadelphia, and was named a "40 Under 40" by both Philadelphia Business Journal and Billy Penn's "Who's Who in Communications." -
Gary Greenberg
VP, Executive Creative Director
Gary is Executive Creative Director at Brownstein Group. He likes to describe himself as an RN’R memorabilia blogger, bagel junkie, Keith Richards wannabe, and hack drummer. Former EVP/CCO of Allen & Gerritsen, Gary managed creative departments in both Boston and Philly from 2002-2015, working with clients such as Star Market, The Boston Celtics, Shaw’s Supermarkets, Hannaford, Staples, the LA Zoo, Zildjian Cymbals, Converse, and Pathmark. In 2015, he moved on to become the Director of Creative at Primal A&G, the agency’s B2B advisory arm. Prior to A&G, Gary founded and ran his own agency, Greenberg, Seronick, O'Leary and Partners, and serviced clients such as Dunkin’ Donuts, Hasbro, and Ben Hogan Golf before being sold to A&G in 2002. -
David Shaw
VP, Director of Client Services
A marketing leader with over 25 years of client services experience at agencies including BBDO, Chiat/Day, and Havas, Shaw brings a wealth of advertising and brand-building talents to Brownstein. Through his career, Shaw has worked with major brands including Lowe’s, Sony PlayStation, DirecTV, Keurig, and Liberty Mutual Insurance – leading integrated campaigns that have been recognized with some of the industry’s most prestigious honors, including Cannes Lions, Effies, and many more top creative and campaign awards. -
Anne Ryan
VP, Director of Brand Strategy
At the center of Anne’s core is insatiable curiosity and a sharp business acumen. This combination serves clients well in her role as the Director of Brand Strategy, as she works tirelessly to unearth the insights and strategies that will allow our clients’ brands to redefine categories, bond with their audiences, and ultimately, increase sales. With over 12 years of experience in developing strategies for brands like IKEA, UnitedHealthcare, DuPont and Comcast, Anne inspires her team to push its strategic rigor, go deep and only emerge when they believe they’ve landed on a truly transformative insight. Prior to joining Brownstein, Anne served as the Director of Strategy and Analysis for a digital marketing agency that focused on connecting B2B brands. She also spent the first half of her career implementing customer acquisition programs for financial services institutions, including Citibank. -
Laura Emanuel
VP, Director of Public Relations
Laura is Director of Public Relations at Brownstein Group. In her nine years at BG, she has developed strong relationships with national and regional media and is also highly experienced in reputation management and crisis communications, frequently serving as the corporate spokesperson for her clients and providing messaging counsel to stakeholders. Laura has helped win over 30 Philadelphia PRSA Chapter awards and three national PR awards, including a PRSA Silver Anvil, PR Daily’s 2012 Media Relations Award for “best response to breaking news,” and PR News’ 2013 CSR Award for work on Saint-Gobain’s national community relations program with YouthBuild USA. -
Carol Petro
EVP, Chief Financial Officer
Carol is Brownstein Group’s resident whiz with numbers and processes. Carol brought her broad range of finance, human resources, operations, and legal knowledge to Brownstein Group in March of 1998. Prior to Brownstein Group, her career crossed many industries, including banking, medical, software development, retail, and advertising. Carol says advertising is her favorite. She enjoys the creative environment and diverse client challenges the agency world offers.
