In the healthcare category, marketing often falls into predictable tropes—overly sentimental, glossy, and focused more on the medical device than the human it serves. For Cochlear, the global leader in implantable hearing solutions, the challenge was even more specific: a widespread misunderstanding of their technology. While hearing aids simply amplify sound, cochlear implants bypass damaged areas to restore clarity.

Our goal was to position Cochlear as an elevated, consumer-focused medical technology brand that doesn’t just provide a tool, but restores the nuance of life.

The "Hear the Difference" campaign focused on the "first-person" experience of sound – the subtle, everyday noises that quietly slip away when hearing is lost. By delivering that type of authenticity, we shifted the focus from the technical processor to the emotional impact of being fully present in the world again.

The creative execution utilized a purposefully stripped-down, natural production style. We chose a first-person point-of-view to highlight the hum of a dryer, the sputter of a coffee maker, or the soft coos of a newborn—sounds that recipients are unexpectedly moved to hear again.

This digital-first campaign spanned OTT streaming platforms and marked the brand’s first foray into community-driven spaces like Reddit. By refusing to show the product until the final frame, we successfully positioned Cochlear not as a manufacturer of devices, but as a restorer of the small, precious moments that make a life feel complete.
