Joan was founded in 2016 by Jaime Robinson and Lisa Clunie in New York City. Jaime, formerly the Executive Creative Director for Wieden + Kennedy NY and Lisa, the former COO of Refinery29 came together to bring a new approach to the agency business. With the fundamental belief that clients and agency talent deserve better, Joan is built to break the old Mad Men rules and bring about better work and more trusting partnerships. This is handled through a strong underpinning of world class thinking and creativity, audience empathy, true collaboration and flexible engagements.

This year Joan launched the Joan Foundation for Diversity to ensure recruitment of diverse perspectives at every level. Outreach and inspiration programs will begin in Q4 2018.

Production is through Joan Studios, working with relevant third parties (directors / photographers etc) when needed.

Since opening its doors, Joan has been retained by clients such as General Mills, Netflix, Jet.com, Adidas, booking.com, Black Forest Candy Company, Trolli Gummies, Google, YouTube, Blue Nile, Biossance, Georgia-Pacific and Julep. Joan was recently named Ad Age’s 2018 Agency to Watch.
