Campaign US BIG Awards 2022: Best Campaign | Campaign US
The Black Elevation Map, created by Performance Art for travel brand Black & Abroad, took home "Campaign of the Year" at the 2022 Campaign US BIG Awards, as well as "Best Film" and "Best Idea That Taps Into Culture". From Campaign Magazine: "Maps have long stood at the border of art and science. A creative mapmaker can provide viewers with new ways of seeing the world through works that are built on data. In the case of the Black Elevation Map, African-American life is presented in an innovative visualization. The concentration of Black-owned businesses and cultural sites in a specific area were translated into an elevation — the higher a point on the map, the more reasons that travelers interested in African American culture should add it to their must-visit list. The project was a remarkable feat of crunching numbers including a total of 330 million data points, among them 28,000 Black-owned businesses and 6,500 cultural markers. The latest technology including NASADEM (NASA Digital Elevation Model) was then used to translate that data into its visual representation."

About
Our name says it all: Performance Art. We are IPG's data-driven creative agency network designed to meet the growing demand for work that delivers at the intersection of performance and creativity. We bring together the powers of data, technology and creativity to build brands and unlock transformational customer experiences at scale.
Our Vision:
To help brands around the world make the highest performing work in the most creative way.
There is an instinct in our industry to draw a distinct line between work that drives business performance and work that is beautiful, emotional and brand-building. Marketers have been made to feel they need to choose between the two, thus compromising the other. Our team at Performance Art is proving there is no need to choose. High performance and high art can co-exist.
With more than 200 PAers operating out of our dual headquarters in New York and Toronto and local offices in Montreal and L.A., our footprint is rapidly expanding to serve the global needs of our growing client base.

Andrea Cook
CEO
With 20+ years of communications experience, Andrea is an industry leader in the art of connecting brands to consumers in the digital and data age. Equal parts data geek and creative storyteller, she is known as a change agent and visionary leader with relentless drive and a track-record of success. After 15 years growing A-List agencies, Andrea created FCB/SIX in 2016, transforming what was a small CRM division into what became one of the most innovative, celebrated and successful communications companies in the world. Under her leadership, the company more than tripled in size and celebrated more than 50 new business wins. They were awarded a D&AD Black Pencil in 2020, amassed 22 Cannes Lions, were hailed as one of North America’s most progressive agencies by AdWeek and consistently held a position as a WARC Top 30 global agency. In April 2019, FCB/SIX was recognized as the #1 Data and Analytics Agency of the Year by Ad Age and in 2021 were named one of the Top 3 US Digital Innovation Agencies by Campaign. In 2021, IPG asked Andrea to elevate her vision to start an independent, data-driven creative agency network within IPG — and Performance Art was born. In our first year, the agency has doubled in size, won eight new clients and claimed our first three Cannes Lions — that’s a pretty good start, we think! Andrea has spent her career mentoring and advocating for women. She has been recognized by Campaign’s 2020 Female Frontier Awards, was nominated for Executive of the Year by AdAge in 2021 and was just named to the 40 Over 40 List by Campaign US for 2022. -
Ian Mackenzie
Chief Creative Officer
Across nearly two decades in the business, first as a writer and then in creative leadership roles, Ian’s work has helped clients in North America and around the world to repair, build and transform their brands. During his career, he has earned more than 400 awards for both creativity and effectiveness, including a Grand Prix in Creative Data at Cannes, a Black D&AD Pencil, and a Global Grand Effie. Ian first made his mark on the global creative stage as the co-creator and writer of the influential “Our Food —Your Questions” radical transparency platform for McDonald’s, which was truly transformational for the brand and led to a remarkable lift in both brand trust and food quality perceptions among Big Mac skeptics around the world. Since then, his creative trajectory has accelerated, most recently as the creative visionary behind globally awarded campaigns including: “Publicly Traded” for LifeStyles Healthcare, “Go Back To Africa” for Black & Abroad, and “Destination Pride” for PFLAG, just to name a few. Ian has sat on more than 20 prestigious award show juries, spoken on numerous panels and podcasts, and has had a stack of provocative, brow-raising thought pieces published. In 2021, Ian joined Andrea to be the co-founder of Performance Art — and he’s never looked back. Rewind to when Ian was 2ft. shorter and still had freckles: he idolized rock stars and writers. So, it’s no surprise he has grown up to be a rock-star writer and creative trailblazer with a wall of awards that even Quincy Jones would nod to. -
